William J. Kranyak. III, 79, passed away on October 28th in Dover, DE. He was born in Chester, PA to the late William and Anna Kranyak. Bill was a graduate of St. James High School with the class of 1962. He was a veteran of the US Army with whom he served in the 173 airborne brigade during the Vietnam War.
Bill also worked as a Disabled Veterans Chapter Commander with DAV Chapter 88. He spent his time providing valuable benefit advice to disabled veterans and their widows. Bill would drive 20,000 miles per year to VA Hospitals, DAV regional and state meetings and to food markets, all at his own expense, to collect donated food items to deliver to VA facilities, homeless shelters, senior centers or anywhere else there were people in need. He enjoyed mining gems, panning for gold, making jewelry, and playing Keno in Atlantic City. He was also a raconteur who often held court telling stories.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Ann Kranyak. He is survived by his son, William Jude Kranyak, IV; daughter, Karen Hannum (Bill); grandchildren, Kylie and Cole Hannum. Family and friends are invited to his graveside funeral service on Thursday, November 9th at Noon at Lawn Croft Cemetery, 1000 W. Ridge Rd. Linwood, PA.
