William J. Haney, 77, of Ridley Park, PA passed away on Wednesday, July 13th at Taylor Hospital. He was born in Philadelphia to the late James and Anne Haney. Bill was a graduate of Bishop Neumann High School with the class of 1962. He was also a veteran of the US Marine Corps with whom he served in Vietnam. Bill was a former Philadelphia Police Officer, and later went on to retire as a systems technician with Verizon. He was a past president and former chief of the Collingdale Fire Company. He enjoyed working with computers and gardening.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, James Haney. He is survived by his wife, Carol Haney; children, William J. Haney (Lisa), Marybeth Mello (Jonathan); grandchildren, Tyler, Morgan, Julia, and Maggie; great-granddaughter, Jolene; sister, Anne “Babe” Politte
His funeral mass will be held on Monday, July 18th at 11am at St. Rose of Lima Church in Eddystone. Friends and family are invited for visitation from 10-11am in church. Burial will be at Washington Crossing National Cemetery on a separate date. Donations in his name can be made to Semper Fi & America’s Fund, 825 College Blvd Suite 102, PMB 609 Oceanside, CA 92057.
