Thomas R. Cunningham, Esq., 69, of Wallingford, PA passed away on Wednesday December 27th. He was born in Scranton, PA to the late Ray and Aurelia Gebler Cunningham. He was a graduate of Scranton Prep, then later went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from St. Joseph’s University, a law degree from Villanova University, and a Master’s of Education from Widener University. After earning his Law degree, he went on to serve for four years with the Army JAG Corp at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. Tom was an attorney with White & Williams Law in Philadelphia, then went on to teach 5th grade at Rosetree Elementary School. Later he returned to practicing law until his retirement in 2013.
Tom was an active member of St. John Chrysostom Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. He also volunteered with the Missionaries of Charity.
He was predeceased by his brother, Paul Cunningham. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Denise McGarrity Cunningham; Daughter, Meghan Lonergan(Jeff) of Virginia; Siblings, Joan Intoccia(Mark), Mary Ann Fitzpatrick(Kevin), and Robert Cunningham (Sue); grandchildren, James and Alexander Lonergan; 8 nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 4 at 10 am at St. John Chrysostom Church. Friends and family are invited to call on Wednesday evening from 6-8pm and on Thursday morning from 8:30-9:30am at the Carr Funeral Home 935 S. Providence Rd. (Rte. 320) Wallingford, PA. Burial will follow in SS Peter & Paul Cemetery. Donations in his name can be made to the Missionaries of Charity 2714 W. 9th St. Chester, PA 19013.
