Samuel W. Parker, Sr., 88, of Media passed away on Monday, May 7th at the VA Medical Center in Coatesville. He was born in West Virginia to the late J. Warren and Lillian Massey Parker. Sam was raised and educated in Chester, where he was a graduate of Chester High School with the class of 1948. Sam was a veteran of the US Army with whom he served during the Korean Conflict. He played semi-pro football locally for the Marcus Hook AC and Lloyd AC. He worked as a welder for the Sun Oil Company for 38 years until his retirement in 1989. He enjoyed reading, and most of all, playing golf.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Marian Oliver, Harry Parker and John Parker. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marion Davis Parker; Sons, Samuel Parker, Jr. (Rosemary), Richard Parker (Deborah), Clifford Parker (Lili), and Wayne Parker; 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held on Friday May 11 at 11am at the Carr Funeral Home 935 S. Providence Rd. Wallingford, PA. Friends and family are invited to his viewing from 9:30am-11am. Burial will be private. In Lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to the Coatesville VA Medical Center, Voluntary Services, 1400 Black Horse Hill Rd., Coatesville, PA 19320
