Ronald B. Grapin, 80, of Milmont Park, PA passed away on March 23rd, 2023. He was born to the late Bernard and Audrey Grapin of Southwest Philadelphia. Ron graduated from John Bartram High School in 1960 and later earned a bachelor’s degree in business from St. Joseph’s University. He worked as a lab technician and, later, a sales associate for E.I. DuPont deNemours and Company until his retirement. He also turned his lifelong passion for stamp collecting into a successful business. He was active in the local sports community as a softball umpire with ASA, baseball and softball coach with Swarthmorewood AA, and basketball coach with Ridley-Interboro Jr. ABA. He was a long-time member of Princeton Presbyterian Church (now Tree of Life) where he served as an elder and a deacon. Throughout his life, Ron enjoyed bowling, photography, and listening to music. He was an avid sports fan loyal to the Philadelphia teams. Most of all, he cherished his wife, children, and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Joel Grapin and sister Charlene Mettler. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary-Joy (Abbott) Grapin; children, Ron Grapin (Beth), Daniel Grapin (Elizabeth), Susan Poggi (Leonard), Joy Grapin, and Scott Grapin; grandchildren, Christopher, Amanda, Michael, Hannah, Matthew, Grace, and Cole; sister, Karen Gowen (Joe); many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held at 11am on Thursday, March 30th, 2023 at the Carr Funeral Home, 935 S. Providence Rd., Wallingford, Pa. Friends and family are invited to his viewing from 10:00-11am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Media, Pa. In place of flowers, please consider a donation in Ron’s memory to the American Heart Association.
