Richard H. Woods, 62, of Media, PA passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Wednesday, April 8th with his wife of 13 years by his side. He was born in Ridley Park to the late Sylvia and Harold Woods. Rich was a graduate of the class of 1975 at Ridley High School and retired from State Farm Insurance after 25 years. Rich was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Jane.
Rich was a talented varsity athlete at Ridley High where he played soccer, basketball, and baseball. Rich was also an avid runner and cyclist. He enjoyed many weekends racing in duathlons and was dedicated to training year round regardless of the heat, snow, or dark early mornings. Rich shared many passions with his friends and siblings including skiing, golf, and fishing.
Rich was a lover of all music genres, especially jam bands, including The Allman Brothers Band, Phish, and The Grateful Dead. Woody, as he was known by many, loved the ocean and body boarding in the waves. He was a lover of nature and spent as much of his time outside as possible. Rich was a friend to animals and was beloved by them in return.
Rich is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Jane Woods (nee Keenan), his step-daughter, Angela (Andrew Carney), and the best dog ever, Daisy. He was brother to Robert Woods (Honey) and Nancy Buck (Ron), and uncle to Caroline Buck. Rich was preceded in death by his first wife Terry.
