Maureen "Mo" Gallagher (nee Kelly), 62, of Brookhaven, PA, went home to God on September 14, 2021 after a brief illness. Born and raised in Brookhaven, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Doris Kelly.
Maureen was a graduate of Sun Valley High School, class of 1977. Maureen committed her professional life to medical care, giving her love and compassion to countless patients. Later in life, she pursued her lifelong dream of achieving her nursing degree and spent her last years caring for children with special needs.
While she cared for others professionally, her three children and five grandchildren were her focus personally, sharing stories of her pride in them to anyone and everyone she met. In her spare time, Maureen loved to sing, whether in her church choir or her kitchen, and enjoyed listening to music (especially Journey), drawing, and spending time with loved ones. Maureen was a devout follower of her Catholic faith and was a parishioner at St. John Chrysostom Catholic Church.
Maureen was predeceased by her parents, Charlie Kelly in 2003, and Doris Kelly in 1989. She was a loving mother to Erin Franklin (Don), Shannon Gallagher-Colombo (Matt), and Shaun Gallagher (Kate), and devoted grandmother to Shane, Tania, Donique, James, and Anneliese. She is also survived by her beloved brothers and sisters, Chip (Wanda) Kelly, Kathy Feher (Ed), AnneMarie Scher (Gary), Maria DiNicola (Albert), and Colleen Reynolds (Jim). She was a proud aunt and great-aunt to a numerous nieces and nephews and was well-loved by many cousins, friends, and colleagues.
Maureen's spirit could light up a room and her loyalty to friends and family was unmatched. Her personality, sense of humor, and giving nature will be sorely missed by all friends and family. She will always be remembered for her large and generous heart, for she touched all who knew her in a positive way.
