Mary V. “Sissy” Watson, 73, of Chester passed away on Friday April 21st. She was born in Chester to the late Joseph and Veronica Friel. She attended St. Michael’s School and later went on to graduate from Notre Dame Moylan High School with the class of 1961. She worked for a time for Scott Paper, and then later went on to work for many years for O’Donnell Auto Services in Folcroft, PA. She was the former president of the Resurrection School home and school association. She was an active parishioner at St. Katharine Drexel Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She enjoyed shopping and watching Disney movies. What she enjoyed most, however, was spending time with family.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph and Larry Friel. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, George R. Watson; children, Mary Beth Mucher(Craig), George Robert Watson, Patricia Watson, Barbara Hannah, Julie Watson, and Cecilia Watson; sisters, Sister Gertrude Friel, SSJ, and Clare O’Donnell(John); grandchildren, Ryan, Isaac, and Nicole Hannah; many nieces and nephews, including the Friels and O’Donnells who spent many hours in Sissy’s home.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 26 at 10:30am at St. Katharine Drexel Church. Friends and family are invited to call on Tuesday evening from 6:30-8:30pm and again on Wednesday morning from 9am-10am at the Carr Funeral Home 935 S. Providence Rd (Rte. 320) Wallingford, PA. Burial will follow in SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
