Joseph “Joe” Robert DiProsperos, age 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Riddle Hospital in Media, PA. He was born September 30, 1933 in Philadelphia where he lived with his parents Joseph R. and Dorothy W. DiProsperos, sister Florence and brother Richard. He graduated from West Philadelphia Catholic High School in 1952. At that time, Joe thrived with his own painting and wallcovering business. He married Dorothy M. DiProsperos (Rhoads) of Chester, PA in 1955 and had what would be a wonderful 50 year marriage until her passing in 2005. Nothing was more important than family and friends to Joe. His children Joe (Lauren) DiProsperos , along with his daughter Karen (Todd) Good from Ellicott City, MD spent precious time together on playing fields, golf courses, Phillies games, Sunday masses, vacations, and numerous parties on Medbury Road. Joe’s grandchildren, Joe, Taylor and Nick called him “Pop” and loved him with their whole hearts. In 2008, Joe met the second love of his life, Geraldine “Gerry” Boggs of Glen Mills, PA. Gerry opened up a whole new life for Joseph, one filled with traveling, concerts, picnics, and true companionship. She was always right by his side during every health problem, hospital stay, and doctor’s visit. In the end, along with Gerry and his family, his in-home caregiver, Michelle, his doctors, nurses and aides at Brinton Manor Nursing Home, and the Hospice staff at Riddle Hospital took him home.
A Catholic funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 12th at 10:30am at Carr Funeral Home at 935 S. Providence Road, Wallingford PA. Internment at Lawn Croft Cemetery immediately to follow.
