James V. Buckley, aged 64, peacefully passed away on April 22, 2024, in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, formerly of Chester. He was born to the Late Paul S. and Jean C. Buckley in Chester and was a proud graduate of Archmere Academy. Continuing his education, he earned his Bachelor's degree from Widener University. Jim dedicated over 40 years of his life to Lockheed Martin, excelling from an engineer to a cherished director in aerospace engineering.
An avid fan of all Philadelphia sports teams, Jim found immense joy in traveling for road games and relishing live music at concerts with his close-knit circle of family and friends. Among his many pleasures, nothing rivaled the happiness he found in spending quality time with his beloved family, especially his grandchildren.
Jim leaves behind lasting memories with his children, Jill Alexander (John) and Jim Buckley (Liz), grandchildren Jolene and Jack, long-time partner Crista Stadler, former wife and mother of his children Jayne McLaughlin Buckley, and siblings: Susan Caligiuri (Patrick), P. Stephen Buckley (Marianne), John J. Buckley (Jean), Peter J. Buckley (Patricia), Gina Freme (Bruce), and Mary Winand (Daniel), as well as numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart. Jim was predeceased by his dear nephew, Peter J. Buckley.
His Funeral Mass to celebrate his extraordinary life will be held on Friday, May 3rd, at 11 am at Our Lady of Charity Church in Brookhaven, Pennsylvania. Friends and family are cordially invited for visitation from 9:30 am to 11 am in the church, followed by burial at SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
Jim will always be remembered not only for his professional achievements and love for his family but also for his infectious sense of humor that brought laughter and joy to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Donations in Jim's name to help create opportunities for local students in STEM and other education can be made to the Philadelphia Education Fund at College Success Program Donations - The Philadelphia Education Fund (philaedfund.org)

Marc and Jim became friends when Marc worked for Jim at LM. I met them both at a Holiday party a LONG time ago. When Marc relocated to Colorado I was glad that he and Jim went together and that he also had Crista there. When I joined Marc, it was lovely to have Jim and Crista there as friends.
Jim and Marc were such a pair together, cheering on the Eagles and famously celebrating the Super Bowl win together at their house. I think that's my favorite memory.
Jim (and Crista), we will cherish the many fond memories and always value the friendship we had.
Our love to your families in this sad time and please reach out any time we can help.
Marc and Kate

I can’t say enough about Jim, what a great engineer, leader and person always full of joy and always willing to help. A great and kind human that we will all miss. I know that Krista and his family were very important to him and my thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this time of loss. I worked with Jim in East Windsor and a lot more in Newtown Sunnyvale and Denver and it was always awesome working with him but no matter how hard the problem was, Jim made it fun and we frequently ended up in tears laughing about something. I retired a few years ago and had a great retirement party and my friend Jim B came and read an amazing heartfelt and hilarious poem that he wrote about my career. He made it memorable and fun but I was one of many, many people who have been touched in a kind and fun way by Jim. Will miss him and remember him always. God bless.

Jim met me with open arms, a hug, and a smile from our first encounter. Like all of the Buckley’s, he had a grace and welcoming spirit that made me feel at ease around him. Wilder and I are saddened by his untimely death. Our heartfelt sympathy extends to his children, grandchildren, partner, brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews, and friends. This is such a loss. I’m sure we share the sentiment of wishing there was more time. Thank you God for the time we did have. Prayers of peace to all.

I had the pleasure of working with Jim years ago when I started supporting Commercial Space. He was one of the Program Managers that I enjoyed working with. Often we were dealing with numerous challenges on programs and he was one that always had a teaming attitude to get the job done. He also recognized individual and team accomplishments. Like others have said he was a lot of fun and a great leader. He will be missed.

I first worked with Jim in our LM Commercial Space days. He was generous with his time and a caring leader for early career folks. Jim made a real difference in the security of our nation and all our families with his contributions. He will be missed.
