Fred Alfonsi, age 90, also known as Tracey to his many South Philly friends, neighbors and acquaintances, passed away Wednesday, October 23rd, 2019. Freddy worked as a top window decorator for Gimbels Department Store for 30 years. He was an avid reader who could dazzle one with his keen insights when it came to history, politics, sports, music, art and fashion.
His surviving brother, Sam Alfonsi, Director of College Bound in Broomall, Pa. says that his big brother Freddy played a key role in raising him, directing him, and encouraging him. Fred had a sense of humor that belied his sharp and inquiring mind. He now joins in peaceful repose after battling congestive heart failure his wife, Cass, his mother, Julia, his father, Ben, his sister Kay and his brother Ben.
May the good Lord forever bless him for the generosity, wisdom and comfort he provided to so many in his long life.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass on Tuesday Oct. 29 at 11:00 AM at St. John Chrysostom Church 617 S. Providence Rd. Wallingford, PA. Friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield.
