Francis X. “Hank” Hannigan, 74, of Swarthmore and formerly of Philadelphia passed away peacefully on Dec. 18, 2023 at home. Hank was the son of William James and Elizabeth (nee Crennan) Hannigan. He graduated from Roman Catholic High School (‘68). Hank entered the Army and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service. A proud Vietnam Veteran, he often attended local veterans’ events. Upon retiring from Grainger after 42 years, Hank enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. He was a parishioner of St. John Chrysostom Church.
Hank was predeceased by his parents and brother, William. Hank is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Joan (nee Butler) Hannigan; his children, Timothy (Katharine), Susan (Benjamin) and Andrew (Kristan); his siblings, Mary Patricia, Robert, and Maureen; and grandchildren, Andrew, Madeline, Charlie, and Kira.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass on Friday, Dec. 22 at 11:00 AM at St. John Chrysostom Church, 617 S. Providence Rd., Wallingford. Friends may call from 10-10:45 AM at the Church. Int. Private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
