Francis Gabriel Pileggi, Esq. Age 87. He was born and raised in Chester, PA, and died peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday. Mr. Pileggi was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Mary Clorinda Pileggi (Troffo). Significant interests were spending time with his family, participating in church activities and singing. He was a graduate of St. James Catholic High School (Class of 1945) and Villanova University (to which he won a four-year scholarship), as well as Temple University Law School. He was the founder of the law firm Pileggi and Pileggi. Mr. Pileggi founded the Justinian Society of Delaware County, an organization of lawyers of Italian American heritage. He was the solicitor for the Suburban Contractors’ Association for over four decades. He recruited for and attended the Malvern Retreat House for over 50 years. Mr. Pileggi was the founder of the Christopher Columbus Memorial Association of Delaware County. Before beginning his law practice, he was instrumental in forming and growing several businesses with his father and brothers, which included Concord Plywood and Supply Co., Beautiful Home Centers, Inc., Concord Real Estate Agency, Pileggi Development Corporation and the construction company D. Pileggi & Sons, Inc., as well as the development of the Woodlyn Shopping Center and other real estate investments. He was an active member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Chester, serving as Lector, Eucharistic Minister and Cantor.
He is survived by his children Theresa, Dominic (Diana), John (Lisa), Francis G.X. (Jeanne), Elisa (Harry), Joseph and Rev. Anthony, seven grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter, as well as his brother Dominick J. (“Mick”).
Viewing at Carr Funeral Home, 935 S. Providence Rd., Wallingford, PA, on Sunday, May 22 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and also at St. Katharine Drexel Church, 1902 Providence Ave., Chester, PA, on Monday, May 23 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM.
