Florence Valent formerly of Wallingford died November 14 at Gwynedd Square Nursing Home. Mrs. Valent was born in Chester to the late Joseph and Julia nee Nasco Bailey.
She attended Resurrection School and graduated from Notre Dame High School.
Mrs. Valent was employed as a cashier at the following supermarkets King Jack’s Great Leopard, Penn Fruit, A & P, and retired from Acme in 1986.
She was a Cub Scout Mother when her children were young, Democratic Poll Watcher in the 1st Ward 5th Precint for many years. She loved to play cards belonging to a Pinochle Club for many years.
She was a member of St. John Chrysostom Church in Wallingford.
She was married to the late Francis M. Valent who died in 2009. She was also predeceased by a grandson Michael Valent Miller who died in 2006 and her sisters Dorothy Brogan and Gloria Sterusky.
Mrs. Valent is survived by her sons Thomas Valent of Wallingford, Richard Valent of Syosset, NY, John Valent of Hatfield , PA and her daughter Barbara Valent Miller of Chester, her grandchildren Susan Valent, Michelle Miller, Patrick Valent, Sean Valent, and Dennis Valent, her sister Teresa Durkin of Brookahaven and her brother Joseph Bailey of Derby, CT.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Saturday at 8:30 A.M. from the Carr Funeral Home 935 S. Providence Rd. (Rt. 320) Wallingford. Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. St. John Chrysosotom Church.
Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 P.M. and Saturday 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. at the Funeral Home
