Edward J. McGuire, 66, of Wallingford passed away on Thursday, May 4th. Throughout his 10 year battle with Lewy Body Dementia, Ed remained an inspiring, devoted, and humorous husband, father, and friend. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Nancy Kraemer McGuire; daughter, Elizabeth De Los Angeles (Tony); and many friends and family.
Ed graduated from Haverford High School before heading out to Missouri to pursue both undergraduate and graduate degrees in geography at Mizzou. He eventually made a home back in Swarthmore with his wife and daughter, where he worked in the office supply industry. Ed had a passion for trains and enjoyed riding the rails around the country with his family. He also loved the theater, both attending plays on Broadway and constructing sets at YPTW. He was an avid sports fan and loyal supporter of the Strath Haven Panthers and University of Delaware Blue Hens.
In addition to his wife and daughter, he is survived by his brother, Frank McGuire; sister, Kathy Leary; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Edward and Kathleen McGuire; and brother, Thomas McGuire.
His memorial service will be held on Friday, May 12th at 11:45am at the Carr Funeral Home 935 S. Providence Rd. (Rte. 320) Wallingford, PA. Friends and family are invited to call from 11-11:45. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association at www.lbda.org.
