Clara Barbara Zukowski, 94, died peacefully at home in Aston, Pa. on April 3, 2020.
Born June 21, 1925 in Mount Carmel, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Anna (Sawicki) Kowalewski and attended Our Mother of Consolation Catholic School and graduated from Mount Carmel High School. Mrs. Zukowski (then Kowalewski) worked in the Library of Congress in Washington DC during the second world war; when her high school sweetheart returned from serving in the European Theatre, she and the late John Zukowski wed and were married for 48 years until his death.
For many years, Mrs. Zukowski worked as the receptionist for the late Dr. Robert Stanley in Chester, PA while raising her three children. She was an active member of the former St. Robert’s Church, now St. Katharine Drexel Church, in Chester, and for many years served as an officer for the Sacred Heart Hospital Auxiliary.
Mrs. Zukowski was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family, cheering on her Phillies, Eagles and Nittany Lions and an occasional trip to the casino. She enjoyed many years as an active member of St. Katharine Drexel Senior Citizens.
Mrs. Zukowski was preceded in death by her husband John, her son Mark A. Zukowski, her brother Edward Kowalewski M.D., and her sister Dorothy Rupp.
She is survived by her two daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary Ann Prorock (Robert) of Aston, Pa. and Jane Innes (Kahle) of Orange County, Ca.; three grandsons, Keith Prorock (Lori) of Media, Pa, Eric Prorock (Melissa) of Garnet Valley, Pa. and Kody Innes of Virginia Beach, Va. and two granddaughters, Kira Innes of Los Angeles, Ca. and Denise Passerini (Tony) of Oxford, Pa. She also loved her four great-grandsons, John Prorock, Justin Prorock, Vincent Passerini and Matthew Passerini. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews and her dear friend Sister Maria Denise.
Services and burial will be private at this time with a larger celebration of life to be announced in the future.
