Mary Anne Magrogan Bogie
August 31st, 1947 - September 23rd, 2026

With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the death of our beloved sister and favorite aunt, Mary Anne Bogie (born Magrogan) also known affectionately as AMA for Aunt Mary Anne. Mary Anne died peacefully at Riddle Hospital at the age of 79 surrounded by her loving family following an incredibly courageous and stoic lifelong battle with rheumatoid arthritis. A woman of extraordinary grace, strength, compassion, wit, and generosity - she was a true inspiration to all who knew her.

Mary Anne was born and raised in an Irish Catholic family in Chester, Pennsylvania, with her parents, William and Mary, and 5 brothers, Bill, Jim, Frank, Joe, and Mike. She attended St. Michael’s School and Notre Dame High School, graduating in 1965.

As her brothers went off to college, Mary Anne began working in an entry-level secretarial job at Scott Paper Company where she spent her entire very successful career before retiring in 2000. While working full time and attending night school at Widener University to earn her Bachelors degree, Mary Anne rose through the ranks at Scott, working in multiple divisions including Marketing Research with the Consumer Division and the Away From Home Division where she helped execute global business strategy. Mary Anne finished her career as General Manager of SaniFresh manufacturing facilities in San Antonio, TX. Known affectionately as “Bogs”, “Bogie” or “MAB”, Mary Anne was an exceptionally gifted problem-solver and was well-regarded by her colleagues and senior leaders alike who regularly sought her advice and counsel. She treasured the many lifelong friendships she gained from her time at Scott.

Mary Anne accomplished all this despite battling severe rheumatoid arthritis since childhood. Diagnosed in her early 20s, Mary Anne never allowed her disease or her pain to limit her life, her career, or the way that she showed up for her friends and family. She retired from Scott to move back to Media, PA, to care for her aging father, Bill. The pair remained roommates until his death in 2008. Mary Anne was a resident of Rose Tree Place and Riddle Village Retirement Community where she lived until her death. She spent her time there helping the countless aides and staff that supported her, for whom the family is forever grateful.

Mary Anne was everyone’s favorite aunt - a true confidante, second mother, and the keeper of the family history and stories. She remembered every birthday without reminder, was always waiting by the phone for a chat, made sure she had your favorite snack, drink, or Tasty Kake variety on hand, supported everyone in a time of need, and loved each of her nieces, nephews, and their children unconditionally. She was an equally devoted sister and the matriarch of her family, bringing everyone together for family trips and gatherings.

Mary Anne is predeceased by her parents, her sisters-in-law Carol, Lois, Joan, and Melissa, and her best friend, Nancy Finnegan, who became a second aunt to the family. She is survived by her 5 brothers, Bill and his wife Donna, Jim, Frank and his wife Patti, Joe and his wife Lynne, and Mike. Her 16 nieces and nephews Carolyn and her husband Jerry, Lois Mae, Colleen, Joyce and her husband Steve, Kathy, Jim Jr., Dave and his wife Melissa, Maureen, Tim, Richard and his wife Sarah, Brian and his wife Ali, Cara, Ilene and her husband Jonathan, Mary and her husband Sean, Patrick and his wife Nicole, and Susie and her husband Jeremy as well as many great nieces and nephews. Mary Anne is remembered by countless close friends and former coworkers whom she considered family.

A memorial luncheon will be held at Towne House in Media on Friday, November 6th from 12-3pm. The family kindly asks for RSVPs so they may plan accordingly ([email protected] or 610-742-8428).

I knew Mary Anne when she did not suffer from Arthritis. She was fun and lively. Our husbands were best friends and we spent many a Saturday night together. I was at her wedding, visited her in Texas and Media and as we were separated by states (I live in FL) we kept in touch with notes and the occasional call when she was able. I know you all think she is remarkable as I do. She had taught us many lessons in life and was a wise and humerus soul.

What a gem! I met Mary Anne in 1986 or so at Scott Paper. Wasn't long before we found out we share the same street on LBI! I was lucky to visit her there, Media, even in Florida. She was always a treat to spend time with. Such a strong, smart and sassy girl. She left an impact on me for sure. I was happy to know you. Peace, my Friend.
