Rita M. Schaffler, 86, formerly of York, Pa passed away on January 1st, 2026. Rita was born on December 21, 1939 in Singen, Germany. She lived in Munich and Nurnberg, Germany before moving to Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1951. In 1959, Rita graduated from Fundacao Armando Alvares Penteado with a degree in business. She met her husband, Helmut M. Schaffler and moved to New York City. They lived in various places before finally settling in York, Pa in 1972.
Rita worked as the manager of Christmas Tree Hill in York for over 25 years. In addition to enjoying time with her family and friends, Rita volunteered at the Jacobus Library and the York Food Bank. She was also a long-time member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in York, PA.
In addition to her parents, Rita was predeceased by her husband, Helmut M. Schaffler; son, Bernd H. Schaffler.
She is survived by her daughter Birgitt Wirth (Larry); grandchildren, Quinn and Cole Wirth, Scott Schaffler; daughter-in-law, Robin L. Schaffler.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, January 8th from 5-7pm at the Spring Haven Country Club in Wallingford, PA. Her burial will be held privately in York, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to the Jacobus Village Library in Jacobus, Pa or to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in York, PA.
