Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Resweber passed away peacefully at her home on May 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Joan Rafter Phillips and Harry Eugene Phillips.

Beth graduated from Bishop Hannan High School, earned her nursing diploma from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Penn State Brandywine, and later completed her Master of Public Health from the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. She cared for patients and families as a nurse at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for over 40 years.

Beth was a devoted wife, mother, friend, and nurse whose greatest joy came from spending time with the people she loved. She adored her family and treasured time with her children, whether at home, on family trips to Crystal Lake, spending summers at the Swarthmore Swim Club, or hosting her beloved annual Chili Night gathering before Thanksgiving. Beth had a gift for making people feel welcome and cultivated friendships that often felt more like family.

She found happiness in life's simple pleasures: tending to her garden, sitting on her porch, enjoying the warmth of the sun, and taking walks through Swarthmore, often making a stop at the campus koi pond. She loved social gatherings, meaningful conversation, and quality time with family and friends. Her lifelong friendship with Doris brought her immeasurable joy, and many of Beth's happiest days were spent by her side.

Beth will be remembered for her resilience, empathy, and loyalty. She faced life's challenges with grace and determination, never losing sight of what mattered most: the people she loved.

Beth is survived by her husband, Dr. Scott Resweber; her children, Drew (Alleigh), Clay (Olivia), Frances (Paul), and William. She is also survived by her siblings, Patricia Ephault, Mary Ann Kemmlein (Mike), Kathi Zielinski (Mike), Joan Phillips, Michael Phillips (Sandy), Kim Moran, Helen Rizos (Byron), and Timothy Phillips Sr.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the entire team at Consultants in Medical Oncology and Hematology, especially Dr. John Sprandio Jr., Dr. Brian Sprandio, and their dedicated nurses and staff, for the exceptional care, compassion, and support. They also extend their sincere thanks to the nurses and staff of Main Line Health Hospice who provided Beth with comfort and peace.

Family and friends are invited to visitation at the Resweber family home on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at St. John Chrysostom Church in Wallingford, Pennsylvania.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Smiles for Guatemala, a cause close to Beth's heart through her years of service on medical missions to Guatemala with the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Cleft Lip and Palate Team. Donations can be made through the Smiles for Guatemala website at www.smilesforguatemala.org/how-to-help.html.

My heart is broken by the loss of such a beautiful friend. Beth’s kindness, strength, and selfless spirit touched so many lives, including mine. She always put others before herself and loved with her whole heart. I am grateful for every memory, every laugh, and every moment we shared. The world is a little less bright without her, but her love and legacy will live on in all of us who were blessed to know you.

My deepest condolences to her family that she loved so deeply.

Rest peacefully, my dear friend.
You will be missed beyond words and remembered forever.

Sincere condolences to Mike, Sandy, Caitlyn & Christina. Beth cared for my nephew at CHOP in a time of crisis. Her on-call Weekend was a gift to my family, as she said the magic words—“I’m from The Scranton area”. Care, compassion , kindness were affirming my nephew was in the best of hands. Unforgettable,I am so so sorry.

Dear Frances and Clay,

The Board and Staff of TCF were deeply saddened to hear of your mother's passing.

From reading about her life, it is clear that Beth's greatest legacy is the love she shared with her family and friends. She was an extraordinary woman whose life reflected compassion, dedication, and love. Her career as a nurse at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia touched countless lives, and her commitment to caring for others was truly inspiring. It is easy to see how her example helped shape your own passion for healthcare and service to others.

Please know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. May your treasured memories of Beth bring comfort, peace, and strength in the days ahead.
With heartfelt sympathy,
The Board and Staff of TCF

How blessed we all were to be loved by Beth! She is one of the most loving & selfless persons that I have ever had the pleasure to love. From our days working together at Children’s hospital in New Orleans & our recent re- connection in Philadelphia when our daughter chose to attend college at Byrn Mawr college. Beth was a dear friend, & a total lifesaver at so many times in our lives! We felt so blessed that she chose to share her health journey with us & that she invited us to come & hug her in person in July. Memories that will last for the rest of our days. Every time we connected, she was so grateful for the love & prayers. We will miss her smile, her infectious smile & her amazing hugs!
Love to our Resweber family <3
Xoxo, Maria & Vinay
