It is with both deep sadness and gratitude for peace that we announce the passing of Luis Montoya, age 69, on November 13, 2024 after a long fight against cancer. The most devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend, Luis is survived by his beloved wife, Miryam, his two cherished daughters and their husbands, (Diana & Brendan and Daniela & Dan), and the five grandchildren he adored. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, resilience, grit, and generosity that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Luis was a man who brought laughter to every room, finding humor even in life’s most challenging moments. He was an electrical engineer by training, but was truly the consummate MacGyver. There was no machine or appliance he couldn’t take apart and fix. He was also a chemist and a chef, and expressed his love through his delicious creations. He was a lifelong learner, doing extension courses at universities and guitar camps in the mountains well into his middle age. And he was a lover of music. There was never a moment in the day when music wasn’t playing near him, and he never left home without a little speaker. Those who knew him will remember his jokes, his cooking, his kindness, and his unfailing joy for life.

Luis will be buried on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 11:30 AM at Mount Hope Cemetery, located at 4010 Concord Road, Aston, PA. The family will hold a celebration of life and memories at their home afterwards.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, in honor of Miryam, the love of Luis’s life. To honor his memory, they also encourage anyone who knew him to engage in acts of service and generosity. Luis’ life was a testament to how acts of service could make his family feel so very loved. His memory will live on in the laughter he shared and these random acts of generosity.

Dear Daniela & Diana.
I know grief is a hard and unpredictable journey and there’s no right way to go through it. I lived it with our grandmother Otilia. But you will always have them in your heart in the most pure way and their company will be always be next to you. Your dad was truly one of a kind, I’m very grateful I got to spend time with him and getting to know him. He was a Montoya, always happy with a great sense of humor and very smart. We will always have him in our prayers. On behalf of my family; Martha, Mario, Danny and I we send you much love, positive energy and our condolences.
