Josephine Silvestri, 94 of Brookhaven died May 15 at her home. Mrs. Silvestri was born in Sicily to Giuseppe and Carmela Brazzante. She immigrated to the United States in 1959 with her husband living in Chester. She worked as a seamstress at the former Torelli’s Menswear in Norwood. She liked to cook and loved spending the holidays with her children and grandchildren. She was a longtime member of St. Anthony’s Church and later St. Katharine Drexel Church.
Mrs. Silvestri was predeceased by Phillip her husband of 52 years who died in 1992, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
She is survived by her children Angela (Carmen) Scalora of Aston, Guy (Ginger) Silvestri of Lancaster County and Joseph (Bonnie) Silvestri of Ridley Park, her grandchildren Dr. Mario Scalora, Carmela Scalora, Gina Pontillo, Jodi Proietto, Darren Silvestri, Brian Silvestri and 9 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 10:00 AM in St. Katharine Drexel Church 1920 Providence Ave. Chester where friends may call after 9AM. Int. SS. Peter and Paul Cem.
