It is a with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Klinger, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who left us peacefully on June 7, 2024 at the age of 85.
Joseph was born on January 9th, 1939 in Philadelphia to the late Walter and Mary Francis Klinger. He was a graduate of Haverford High school with the class of 1957. Joseph served as property tax assessor for Delaware County for 30 years and remained an active community member with several organizations.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, David Klinger (2022); siblings, Wally Klinger and Mary Lou Kovac.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Loretta Kary Klinger; Children, Amy (Harry) Roessner, Bruce (Luci) Klinger, and Lee (Lori) Klinger. Joseph is a grandfather of 10; Lindsay, Kaitlyn, Elizabeth, Monique, Emily, Harry, Rebecca, Benjamin, Katherine, and Sophia, as well as the great grandfather of Jude and the recently added Caroline. He is also survived by his numerous nieces, nephews and friends who were all like family.
Joseph’s kindness, generosity, and bright spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was an avid reader, enjoyed playing card games with friends, a republican committeeman, a Philadelphia sports teams enthusiast and always found a way to give back to his community. He was also a member of the Men of Malvern, the Historical Society of Delaware County, and was a past parishioner and guide at Old St. Joseph’s Church in Society Hill.
His funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 22nd, 2024 at 11am at St. John Chrysostom Church 617 S. Providence Rd. Wallingford, Pa. Friends and family are invited for visitation from 10am-11am in church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association at Donate to Lewy Body Dementia Association (lbda.org)
Joseph will be dearly missed but never forgotten. His memory will forever remain a guiding light in our lives.
