James F. Leavens, 65, passed away on April 22nd, 2025, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was raised in Wallingford and was a graduate of Nether Providence High School with the class of 1977. He worked as an auto mechanic for his entire career until his retirement. Jimmy enjoyed working on home projects, hitting the casino with his late wife Patty, fishing/crabbing, and sparking up a conversation with a passing neighbor or friend. He thrived at being able to fix just about anything, but his true passion was his family. He would share the joys of being a grandfather (or Pops) with anyone who would listen. He prioritized being a supportive father, brother, uncle and son; always making himself available for anyone that needed him. He truly enjoyed the simple things in life, like a cold beer paired with a hot dog, or a bowl of Reese’s cups.
He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Leavens (2019) as well as his parents, James and Eleanor Leavens. He is survived by his daughter Jena Thorne (Dylan); grandchildren, Jameson and Mallory Thorne; siblings, Eleanor Voldish (Bob), Kathy Thayne, Larry Leavens, Fran Leavens (Jean), and Joe Leavens (Patty); many brothers and sisters-in-law; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
His funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 2nd at 11am at St. John Chrysostom Church, Wallingford, PA. Friends and family are invited for visitation from 9-11 am in church. Inurnment will follow in SS Peter & Paul Cemetery. Please help us celebrate his life by wearing his favorite colors, which were all shades of blue, gray and plaid.
