It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Benjamin Ryan Klinger, 22, of Media, Pennsylvania, who left us on September 17, 2025. Ben’s gentle heart and sensitive soul were a gift to all who knew him.
Ben’s life was defined by love, compassion, and quiet strength. A passionate long-distance runner, he found peace in the rhythm of each mile—whether training for a race or enjoying a morning jog. His love for basketball was equally enduring, reflecting his appreciation for movement, discipline, and joy.
Ben’s athletic journey began in childhood through the Nativity BVM CYO Program, where he competed in cross country, track, and basketball. His years with Nativity shaped his love of sport and community, and laid the foundation for the athlete and teammate he would become. He continued that journey at Springton Lake Middle School, where his dedication to running began to flourish, and then at Penncrest High School, where he competed in cross country and track with pride, perseverance, and quiet determination.
In May 2025, Ben graduated from Saint Joseph’s University, where he competed for two years as a college athlete in track and cross country. He was deeply proud to be part of the SJU community and wore his Hawk pride with honor. His time at Saint Joe’s was filled with meaningful friendships, personal growth, and unforgettable memories. Being a Hawk wasn’t just a chapter in his life—it was a source of joy, identity, and connection.
Ben was known for his sweet nature and gentle disposition. He had a quiet warmth that made people feel safe and valued, and a natural kindness that never asked for recognition. He showed up when it mattered most—ready to lend a hand, share a laugh, or offer quiet encouragement. Thoughtful, compassionate, and deeply empathetic, Ben touched lives in ways that will never be forgotten.
He truly loved spending time with his family. Frequent visits to Long Beach Island, Richmond, and Virginia Beach brought him joy, as did simply hanging out by the pool or relaxing at the beach. He took special pride in running 5Ks with his family and uncles—sharing early mornings, finish-line smiles, and the kind of quiet camaraderie that made those miles unforgettable. He had a special bond with his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins—he loved them dearly and found comfort, laughter, and connection in their company. Above all, Ben was incredibly proud of his sisters, Emily and Sophia. He admired their strength, celebrated their accomplishments, and supported them with unwavering love.
He is deeply missed by his loving parents, Lee and Lori Klinger; his older sister Emily Klinger and her partner Matthew Oakley; and his younger sister Sophia Klinger. He is also survived by his grandparents Peter and Linda Fitzsimmons and Loretta Klinger; aunts and uncles Jennifer and Charles Bullard, Amy and Harry Roessner, Luci and Bruce Klinger; and cousins Alex and Matthew Bullard, Elizabeth, Luke and Caroline Osgood, Harry Roessner and his partner Abbey Quinto, Katherine Roessner, Monique Klinger and her partner Hunter Ulrich, Rebecca Klinger and her partner Aaron Albright, Lindsey Klinger, and Jude Livesy.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather Joseph T. Klinger, uncle David Klinger, and cousin Kaitlyn Klinger.
A service honoring Ben’s life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Nativity BVM Church, 30 East Franklin Street, Media, PA 19063. Visitation will take place from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM.
